In 2016 alone, the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri helped nearly 6,000 animals in the Springfield area. The Humane Society welcomes all cats and dogs through its doors, and commits all available resources to not only help them find their forever home, but heal the wounds both visible and unseen.
Adoption
There are about 400 animals on average that are surrendered to the humane society each MONTH! When you adopt you’re saving a life, you’ll have a great animal and it will cost you less.
Adoption helps more than just one animal
Overburdened shelters take in millions of stray, abused, and lost animals every year, and by adopting an animal, you’re making room for others. Not only are you giving more animals a second chance, but the cost of your adoption goes directly towards helping those shelters better care for the animals they take in!When you adopt, you can also feel proud about helping an animal in need!
Health Benefits
Not only do animals give you unconditional love, but they have been shown to be psychologically, emotionally and physically beneficial to their companions. Caring for a pet can provide a sense of purpose and fulfillment and lessen feelings of loneliness.
Can’t adopt? Volunteer!
Local Animal shelters, and other organizations like Rescue One always need volunteers, to either help out at adoption events, or foster an animal. If you’re willing to open your home to a deserving animal in need of some love, this is the gig for you! Rescue One provides for all medical expenses and donates all of the basic supplies needed for fostering.
With adoption, you’ll change a homeless animal’s whole world, and you’ll get a new best friend out of the deal. Seriously, what could be better than that?
