Immunity Boosting Smoothie Recipe

With flu season in high gear, it is essential for one to think about ways to boost their immune systems. Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a vitamin your body needs to form blood vessels, cartilage, muscle, and collagen in bones. Vitamin C is also vital to your body's healing process and can help with boosting your body’s immune system.

As an antioxidant, vitamin C might also help protect your cells against the effects of free radicals — molecules produced when your body breaks down food or is exposed to tobacco, smoke, and radiation. Free radicals might play a role in heart disease, cancer and other diseases. Vitamin C also helps your body absorb and store iron.

Since your body doesn't produce vitamin C, you need to get it from your diet. Drinking smoothies rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants can help strengthen your natural defenses.

Give your immunity a boost with this Vitamin C Smoothie Recipe:

  • 10 oz. Orange Juice
  • 4 oz. Peach Greek Yogurt, frozen
  • 1 cup Strawberries, frozen
  • 1 cup Peaches, frozen
  • ½ cup Pineapple Chunks, frozen
  • Handful of Ice Cubes

Instructions: Place ingredients in a blender. Blend to your preference and enjoy!
