National Men’s Health Month

June 20, 2024, 3:30 pm

June is Men’s National Health Month, during this month it is urged for men to take charge of their health by changing and making healthy lifestyle decisions.  According to the CDC, 13.8% of men aged 18 and older are in fair or poor health.

Here are some ways men can use to take control or to improve their health:

  • Get Active and stay active. If you are having trouble setting goals or needing some personalized tips to stay active you can visit the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Move Your Way Activity Planner to help you stay motivated.
  • Avoid smoking and secondhand smoke. Quitting smoking will improve your health and reduce your risk of cancer, lung disease, and other smoking related illnesses.
  • Managing stress can lower your risk of other conditions like obesity, heart disease, and high blood pressure. Finding ways to relax your mind and body are key to managing and lowering your stress.
  • Visit your PCP for annual check ups and for any issues or concerns you may have or want to have addressed.
