As the school year comes to an end, you might be wondering how your children will spend their days while you are hard at work. Below are some great day camp options to keep your kiddos safe and active while they are away from the class room.

Summer Day Camp at the YMCA

YMCA Summer Day Camp is for school age children (K-8th grade) in the Ozarks. Each exciting week is programmed with activities and field trips based on that particular theme. Kids will get to enjoy indoor /outdoor swimming and skating each week.

Activities may include: Field trips, roller skating, swimming, group games, character development and nutrition lessons, reading programs, arts and crafts, gardening, service learning projects. Your local facility will give you a more in-depth list of activities.

Summer Day Camp with SPARC

SPARC (Schools Parks Are Reaching Communities) is an organization that puts on activities for school-age children in collaboration with the Springfield-Greene County Park Board. This summer they will be offering three different programs to fit a variety of needs.

School sites:

  • The traditional summer camp experience held at McBride and Sequiota Elementary for ages 5 to 12.

Ritter Springs:

  • For children that love the outdoors, you can opt to drop off and pick up children at Wilson’s Creek Intermediate School or Oak Grove Community Center to be taken to Ritter Springs for the day. This option is for kids ages 5 to 12.

Summer Quest:

  • For older children, ages 11 to 14, this option allows for exciting activities and field trips held at Cherokee Middle School.
